ACCEPTING PAYMENTS ONLINE

There are two options on how to accept credit card payments on your website: manual and automated.

MANUAL CREDIT CARD PROCESSING
  • Suits shops with up to 30 sales per day
  • You open up a merchant account at an Australian Bank
  • Contact your bank an install an EFTPOS terminal (usually $16-$20 p.m)
  • We setup an online store, implement security
  • During the checkout procedure, the customer's credit card details would be stored encrypted in a dedicated part of the website
  • You receive a purchase notification and details on your email
  • Login to your store backend and view the order details
  • Decrypt the customer's credit card number with a password
  • Enter credit card details into your EFTPOS terminal and the funds arrive to your bank account the next day
  • Electronic invoice is ready, just click one button to send to the customer
  • That is it, the whole procedure takes only about 1 minute

What are the benefits?

There are few advantages of using manual credit card processing such as ability to validate a suspicious order, remember if you processed a stolen credit card, the bank will take the money back and will issue a chargeback fee (around $30). Most of the suspicious orders would have incorrect telephone numbers and addresses, so by processing a credit card manually, you have an ability to call the customer to verify his telephone number, as well as his shipping address via whereis.com.au. If you are still uncertain, you can always contact your bank to validate the authenticy of the credit card. These things happen quite rarely, but still happen.

There is no ability to validate a credit card manually when you use an automated payment gateway, but there are other security mechanisms to prevent a fraud like CVN (Credit Card Verification Number) Sometimes referred to CVC, CVC2, CVV2 or CVV.
